Homeostasis, as defined by Frontiers in Physiology, is the “self-regulating process by which an organism can maintain internal stability while adjusting to changing external conditions.” There are many variables to homeostasis, including our body temperature, blood pressure, immune function, glucose and insulin tolerance, water retention, assimilation, and elimination to mention just a few. Our bodies are constantly adjusting and fine tuning to find this ideal state of optimal functioning.
A holistic approach to health emphasizes that a balanced body will have everything it needs to heal itself from the inside out. It is our job to free our bodies’ resources so it can use its’ valuable energy systems for regeneration and anti-aging purposes.
